I did a review of Sins & Needles over on my other blog because well, you can’t have too many blogs. So, I decided to leave it here, too. Cheers!
Sins & Needles by Karina Halle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy, #1) is a fantastic novel. I loved it! It’s different than all these angsty reads out there. Oh yes, it has angst, too, but there are twists and turns in these flawed characters. I loved Karina Halle’s writing style. First of all, I loved this heroine–Ellie Watt. I was gripped in the opening pages by Ellie. I wanted to know what made motivated her to be this manipulative, conniving wonder. That’s not disparagement. Ellie’s a hard ass. Readers will want to find out why.
Ellie is strong, seems determined to break out of her grifting lifestyle, and possibly even make up for her past and all those mistakes. Yet, Ellie’s scarred both mentally and physically, which makes her edgy and reckless and endearing. Believe me, this makes for a fabulous storyline as she struggles to find her “way”.
Then, there’s Camden McQueen. He’s the ultimate bad boy, who would seem to have achieved his greatest revenge by overcoming his weirdo reputation in high school and becoming the hot guy with amazing tattoos, when these two meet up again. But, no.
Entertaining, riveting, and surprising–“Sins & Needles” accomplishes all of these things in this novel. I can’t wait for the sequel to this one. And, I can’t wait to see what Karina Halle comes up with next. Nicely done!!!!
